Below we provide you with the membership criteria for full and associated members, the member duties as well as the application procedure. Please observe the application deadline 30 June for the coming year and check the annual membership fee.

Full members

1. Full Members of Ice Age Europe are museums or visitor centers (legal persons) in Europe (Council of Europe Member States) with a direct link to an Ice Age/ Palaeolithic or Mesolithic archaeological site and a permanent exhibition on the topic of Ice Age Europe, actively involved in and endorsing the objectives of the Ice Age Europe network.

2. The archaeological site is or will be made accessible to the public, to the extent permitted by conservation regulations.

3. Candidates are asked to provide evidence of the value of their institution and the archaeological site and should compile a dossier (PDF format) containing these documents:
- A short description of the institution and its organization, including legal form, organizational structure and number of staff,
- Description of the site and the museum/ visitor center, including research, educational and touristic activities and numbers of visitors,
- List of scientific papers about the site and past or ongoing research, preferably in peer-reviewed journals and other high impact publications.
- A letter of intent, stating that the candidate will i. Actively participate in the networks activities. ii. Attend the semi-annual network meetings (1st Thursday and Friday of February and 1st Monday and Tuesday of October) at one of the member sites. iii. Pay the annual full membership fee (1.600 € p.a., subject to change) and iv. Respect the decisions made by the network members.

4. Failure to pay the membership fee results in the exclusion from the network, as same as failure to attend three consecutive network meetings.

5. Full members are expected to host a network meeting.

Associated members

1. Associated Members of Ice Age Europe are institutions (legal persons) in Europe (Council of Europe member states) representative of the Palaeolithic or Mesolithic, actively involved in and endorsing the objectives of the Ice Age Europe network.

2. Candidates are asked to compile a dossier (PDF format) containing these documents:
- A short description of the institution and its organization, including legal form, organizational structure and number of staff,
- Description of research, educational and touristic activities,
- A letter of intent, stating that the candidate will i. Actively participate in the network activities. Please explicate, how the candidate would like to contribute to the network and nominate a person responsible for the network activities (main contact person, who will also attend the meetings). ii. Attend the semi-annual meetings (1st Thursday and Friday in February and 1st Monday and Tuesday in October) at one of the member sites. iii. Pay the annual associated membership fee (500 € p.a., subject to change) and iv. Respect the decisions made by the network members.

3. Failure to pay the membership fee results in the exclusion from the network, as same as failure to attend three consecutive network meetings.

4. Associated members might be expected to host a network meeting.

Information of the applicant of the decision of the members made at the networks fall meeting.

Final decision of the applicant of becoming a full/ associated member. Start of preparations.

Official entry date. Membership fee due January for the current year.
